In her first public conversation since departing the controversial Kansas church, the granddaughter of pastor Fred Phelps talks with journalist Jeff Chu about the faith—and the family—she left behind, her path forward, and her desire to make amends. The session will also feature a reading from Chu’s book, Does Jesus Really Love Me?, and the images of photographer Dana Halferty.

The purpose of the Legacy Series is to show older films that have been important or iconic in contributing to the dialogue on faith, gender and sexuality. The series will screen at 7:30pm Monday thru Friday evening during the festival. They are free screenings at the First United Methodist Church of Pasadena (donations gladly accepted).
